Dance Photography Workshop 9th November 2014
The next dance photography workshop will be on Sunday 9th November 2014 from 2pm to 6pm.
During the workshop we will cover a number of topics including...
- Planning - Tips on getting the most from your shoot.
- The language of dance - How to explain what you want from the dancer.
- Camera setting ideal for different types of dance photography.
- Lighting techniques ideal for capturing images of dancers.
- Shooting techniques that will allow you to get the best shot.
To get the most from the workshop you will need a digital SLR camera with a standard zoom lens. You will also need to know how to set the camera into manual exposure mode and change the shutter speed, aperture and ISO.
The cost of the workshop is £125.00 but we are offering an "early bird" discount. If you pay for the workshop before 10th October the cost will be only £100.00.
The workshop will be held in a large dance studio in East London, near Mile End tube station. The studio is particularly suitable for dance photography as there is a large back wall without all the usual clutter of doors and signs.
As with most dance studios, shoes are not allowed on the dance floor so you will need a good pair of socks to keep your feet warm!
Unfortunately the studio is on the third floor of the building and there is no lift or other disabled access.
A few images previously taken at the studio are on the left side of this page.
We have booked Claire Farmer for the workshop. Claire is a very experienced dancer who graduated from Roehampton University and is now working on her masters degree in a dance related field. Claire is a talented dancer who is used to working with new dance photographers.
Here are some images from previous shoots with Claire. Click the thumbnail for a larger version.
I will be joined on the day by Natalie Clarke. Natalie runs the popular "Photo School" events and workshops and is an experienced tutor as well as being a qualified teacher.
I have been lecturing at university for a number of years where I have taught digital imaging modules as well as other subjects. I have been running various photography workshops since 2010 and have recently been featured as a Canon Pro Dance Photographer in PhotoPlus magazine.
